Overview
When an unexpected security feature derails her mission, a brash spy is forced to pursue a runaway villain in a chaotic chase through and on top of a commuter train.
There’s nowhere to run and failure is not an option.
Director.
Case Closed is a 2D action-comedy graduate film. I worked with a team of talented creatives on this project. I was part of the 3D team; creating the train. 3D was used in the pre-production stage of the film. Creating the train in a 3D space with the ability to place a camera in any position, ensures that the perspective will be accurate.

After the train was complete, the director and cinematographer placed the cameras in order for he background artists to paint over 3D; giving a 2D look.

Research & Development
When beginning any project it is important to research and collect images related to what you want to create. In this instance, I needed to model a train. The director indicated how she wanted the train to look and I collected a series of images, specifically Great Western Rail trains (as seen above).

The interior of the train was more important than the exterior so I prioritised the look and design of this first. Even though the train model was only being used for camera angles and perspective, it was important that I considered the scale proportions and positioning of the model. Even though the film is stylised, it is vital to have a sense of reality within the film.

Bafta Student Film Awards Shortlist & Winner at London International Student Film Festival 2021
The work that went into this film from the entire team was extraordinary and the film was an overall success. My time on the film was limited but crucial to the pre-production stages of the film.

After the film was complete, the director and producer submitted the film to various film festivals. Case closed went onto win best animation at the London International Film Festival 2021. It was also shortlisted for a Bafta Student Film Award.
